April BUG Bulletin

Back on the bikes!  You can now ride in groups of up to six and the official government covid travel advice includes "If you need to travel, walk or cycle where possible" and "stay 2 metres apart from people you do not live with".  I hope to see you out there!

Please Write Now! A decision on the Gaywood Parkway Park housing plan has been postponed for a few days due to procedural doubts, so please write to your borough councillor ASAP ( www.WriteToThem.com  ) and ask them not to screw up the existing Sand Line bridge (they plan to put a narrow hairpin bend and a blind road crossing across its Gaywood ramp) or dangerously slalom cars across the Swaffham Belt Cycleway. You may also like to mention the environmental objections, ask any county council candidates about why NCC Highways is not objecting to this, or contact your MP to criticise the borough council yet again being allowed to grant itself permission, just like Lynnsport and NORA 3&4.

Advance warning: the KES/Strikes road crossing on NCN 1 will be widened during a week in early May, aiming to provide more capacity for walking and cycling. We expect some sort of temporary crossing during the works. Initial plans are on www.KLWNBUG.co.uk and we will update when told.

Elections are coming: the Norfolk County Council Elections and the Norfolk Police Commissioner Elections will be held on 6 May 2021. Please let us know any contact details you have for any candidates, and any questions you would like us to ask, or any you have asked and the answers you got. Above all, please register to vote before Monday 19 April if you have not already done so! www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

Happy pedalling from MJ.
