May Bulletin

Vote Bike on 4th May! Borough and district council elections are next Thursday and we would love to see more cycling-friendly councillors elected. There was an online Q&A hosted by Friends of the Earth with candidates from different parties and an independent which covered cycling. We will link to the recording from www.KLWNBUG.co.uk as soon as we can. In the meantime, please let us know on social media or email to bug at www.klwnbug.co.uk  what your candidates say about cycling. And please remember that we must take photo ID along to vote now.

Rides List

Day Ride                         Sunday 30th April                          10.00am Lynnsport         For those unable to make the Reach Ride on May 1st, a ride to Bircham Windmill.  About 32 miles.

Reach Ride.                 Monday 1st May  https://www.camcycle.org.uk/events/rides/

10am start from either Cambridge and Ely. Different starting point in Cambridge to where we've been in previous years: King's Parade, the other side of Great St Mary's church from Market Hill, by King's College. The Ely ride still starts outside Ely train station. It looks like the 0844 is the latest train advisable from King's Lynn for either, but the 0903 should reach Ely at 0949 so you should just make the Ely ride then.  For Cambridge, get off at Cambridge North at 0931 and ride 3 miles to the start by crossing the new bridge by the railway, then along the river bank to the centre: if you're delayed before reaching Park Parade, you should see the ride coming to you! Return rides leave Reach at 2.30pm for Cambridge and 3pm for Ely, or we can make our own way. Cambridge-Reach is 15 miles, Ely-Reach is 13 miles. Ely-Lynn (for any nutters with excess energy at the end of the day) is 33 miles via Littleport, Denver and NCN 11.  (Or shorter if catching train at an intervening station).

Day Ride                         Sunday 7th May                          10.00am Lynnsport         A ride to Jack’s, Stowbridge.   25 miles, or 18 if catching the train back  at Watlington.

Planning/Social meeting            Thursday 11th May          7.45 for 8pm at Ferry Lane www.KWLNBUG.co.uk for details of current campaigns and comments on development places.

Day Ride                          Sunday 14th May                    10.00am Lynnsport             A ride taking in a visit to Park Farm Café, Snettisham to support The Samaritans.  We’ll decide ride route on the day.  Length of ride will be adjusted to suit the preferences of participants.

Day Ride                            Saturday 20th May                      10.00am Lynnsport         A ride to The Café @ No29, Manea, Fenland PE15 0LZ.  About 59 miles.

Day Ride                         Sunday 28th May                          10.00am Lynnsport         A ride to Ayscoughee Hall Museum and Gardens, Churchgate, Spalding.  About 60 miles.
